george best George Best was the first child of Anglo-Irish parents, Richard "Dickie" Best 1919–2008 and Anne Withers 1922–1978. He was born on 22 May 1946 and grew up in Cregagh , east Belfast . Best was raised in the Free Presbyterian faith.10
